A child is being treated in hospital for serious injuries after a snow-related accident at a school in Hälsingland, Hudiksvalls Tidning reports.

A student was trapped under the snow when a snow cave collapsed. School staff had to pull the student out and begin CPR.

According to the newspaper, both students and school staff witnessed the incident and the municipality has activated a crisis group.

"This is an incredibly sad event that we all - students and staff - need to process. Student health staff with a counselor will therefore be on site, and we will bring in substitute teachers to support everyone who wants to talk and process the incident," says the municipality's head of education in a comment on the municipality's website.

The police have filed a report of causing bodily harm, but there is no suspect in the case.
