According to the Prosecution Authority, the woman regularly locked the child alone in the apartment in Gothenburg. When the apartment caught fire, the preschool-age girl was unable to get out.
"What has emerged is that the woman left the girl alone and unattended on several occasions from late afternoon to the following morning. This was also the case on the last occasion when the fire occurred," says prosecutor Sara Selheden in a press release.
The woman was previously suspected of murder, among other things, but is now charged with aggravated manslaughter, unlawful deprivation of liberty, and causing danger to another.
