Alarm came in at 23.42 and when the rescue service arrived at the scene, the row house was burning heavily.

Our assessment is that something has exploded inside the row house, we do not currently know what, and that it then started burning, says Anna Westberg, press spokesperson for the Stockholm police.

The rescue service managed to limit the fire to the residence and prevent it from spreading to other apartments in the row house, and by 01.30 the fire was extinguished.

The actual residence is severely fire-damaged, says Anna Westberg.

Intentional explosion

According to information from the rescue service, a man and a woman with two minor children live in the apartment. According to the police, the woman and one of the children are seriously injured.

A young mother in the area tells TT that she heard the explosion.

A bang, then it went fast. The fire trucks came immediately, she says.

The police have initiated an investigation into gross general endangerment and gross crime regarding fire hazardous and explosive materials. The theory is that the explosion in the home was caused intentionally.

Yes, since we are categorizing it as gross general endangerment, that's what we think, says Daniel Wikdahl, press spokesperson for the Stockholm police, on Monday morning.

Another person targeted

According to information to several media outlets, it may be that the family is not the target, but that it is aimed at another person living in the vicinity. The police do not want to comment on motives and possible connections.

At 07.00, no one had been arrested. At 09.00, the police technicians were seen inside the apartment.

It is still cordoned off and we have surveillance on site. We have also extended the cordons. Some form of technical investigation will be possible today, says Wikdahl.
