The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in Bangladesh, Obaidul Hassan, is resigning due to the political turmoil in the country.

Five more senior judges are expected to leave their posts, as the new government reorganizes the judiciary. A meeting where the country's highest judges gathered on Saturday morning to discuss the situation was met with protests, with demands for their resignation.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner and economist Muhammad Yunus has been sworn in as Bangladesh's new Prime Minister, after a student protest in the country succeeded in ousting Sheikh Hasina and her 15-year rule.

Yunus leads a transitional government following an agreement between the military, leaders of civil society, and student activists.
