Chelsea and PSG clashed in the final of the World Championship for club teams.
The London team quickly got a firm grip on the match and led after the first half with a whole 3–0.
The same Palmer then extended the lead to 2–0.
Today, we found a position for him where there was more space to attack. Of course, Cole played really well, but the effort from all players was fantastic, says Chelsea's coach Enzo Maresca to the TV channel DAZN after the match.
The 3-0 came when summer's new acquisition Joao Pedro from Brighton elegantly lifted the ball behind PSG's goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The British press reacted strongly to Chelsea's dominance:
What have we just witnessed? What a first half, wrote Sky Sports Nick Wright in the channel's live reporting.
Former Premier League player Andros Townsend, now an expert with BBC, said:
I can't believe what I'm seeing.
An eventless second half followed where Chelsea controlled the events.
This was the first edition of the new World Championship for club teams, which is planned to be held every four years with 32 teams.
Chelsea have a title from the previous edition of the World Championship for club teams, which came in 2021.
