The 23-year-old is said to have been tested at the end of October. The A-sample is reported to have shown traces of a banned substance, and according to Ukrainian Tribuna, which was the first to write about the case, the player and the club are now waiting for the result of the B-sample.
"This has come as a complete shock since I have never consciously used any banned substances or broken any rules, and I am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened", writes the Ukrainian on Instagram.
Mudryk was last on Chelsea's bench on December 1. Since then, he has been absent from the team's squad for four consecutive matches, with the London club citing illness as the reason for his absence.
"I know I haven't done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I can be back on the pitch soon", he writes.
When Mudryk was recruited from Shakhtar Donetsk at the beginning of last year, for a total of over one billion kronor, he became the most expensive Ukrainian football player ever. Shakhtar donated nearly a quarter of the transfer sum to the Ukrainian army.
