On March 4, João Pedro scored Chelsea's 4–1 away win over Aston Villa. The goal, in the 64th minute, was the London team's most recent in Premier League football.

Since then, the team has played and lost five straight league games without scoring. That's eight goalless hours, and after Tuesday's 0-3 defeat away to Brighton - Chelsea didn't have a single shot on target - the team is down to seventh place in the table. Chelsea are seven points behind fifth-placed Liverpool, who currently have the last Champions League spot. Liverpool have also played one fewer game.

The Swedish national team midfielder Yasin Ayari started on the bench for Brighton, but was substituted in the 82nd minute.
