It is mainly about events between the seasons 2010–2011 and 2015–2016, writes FA on its website.

Chelsea writes that the new owners, in connection with the purchase in 2022, discovered what could be previous deficiencies in the club's financial reporting. The London club then reported it to the relevant authorities, including FA.

"The club has shown transparency without equal during the process, including providing detailed access to the club's archives and historical data. We will continue to work in cooperation with FA to be able to complete the case as quickly as possible", writes Chelsea.

During the entire period when the rule violations are alleged to have occurred, Chelsea was owned by Russian Roman Abramovitj. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he was forced to sell the club, which is now owned by a group with Clearlake and Todd Boehly at the helm.

Chelsea has until September 19 to respond to the allegations.
