Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana was unable to play the 2023-24 season due to a cruciate ligament injury.
Now he may be out for the season due to a new injury – in the thigh.
The 24-year-old Frenchman has not played since December 1, when he was substituted in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa. Now coach Enzo Maresca says Fofana's injury is worse than initially thought.
He may be out for the season, says Maresca.
We're not sure, but unfortunately, he may be out for a long time.
Fofana became one of the most expensive defenders in football when he was recruited to Chelsea in the summer of 2022 from Leicester for 75 million pounds (currently equivalent to 1.03 billion kronor).
It's a big loss for us to lose Wes, says Maresca.
