The South Korean Kospi is particularly up by 2.1 percent.
Stock markets in Japan are also buoyant. The Nikkei 225 is up 2.0 percent and the broader Topix is up almost as much, by 1.9 percent.
China's Shenzhen is also rising, by 1.6 percent. However, Shanghai does not reach the same level, with a plus of 0.1 percent.
The Hang Seng in Hong Kong is up 0.4 percent.
