Both ChatGPT, the gaming platform Roblox and the forum Reddit are being given so-called VLOP labels, in accordance with the EU's Digital Services Act, DSA.
The requirements for them will therefore be extra strict, just as previously applied to other major platforms and social media such as Facebook, X and YouTube. The VLOP classification is given to those that have at least 45 million active users in the EU every month and entails, among other things, higher requirements for assessing and countering the risk of harm to minors and the spread of illegal material.
"We continue to closely monitor the digital landscape and do not shy away from classifying any platform," EU Commissioner Henna Virkkunen wrote in a press release.
