Sam Altman, CEO of Open AI, which is behind Chat GPT, writes on X that the company plans for a more "adult" version of the service going forward.
Among other things, Altman explicitly mentions that erotic content should be allowed for verified adult users. Exactly what "erotic content" means in this context, Altman does not explain further in his post. The 40-year-old has himself previously defended the company's decision not to "create sexbots", something that, for example, Elon Musk's AI company XAI allows.
There are others, more shady, AI services that already today allow users to create erotic content and porn - not infrequently with real people's appearance. Problems with so-called deepfakes of celebrities, or someone else that a user wants to see naked, have been known before and many tech companies have been criticized for doing too little in the area.
In his post, Altman says, without referring to anything, that the company has now gotten rid of the problems in Chat GPT that risked harming users with "mental illness". The restrictions that have been introduced, Altman means, have however made Chat GPT "less useful".
The AI service has previously been accused of being too generous in its answers and advice to users, something that has led to dangerous situations for those who are not doing well. In the USA, the parents of a 16-year-old who took their life have taken Open AI to court after, according to them, Chat GPT "helped" their child to commit suicide.
The changes planned for Chat GPT are to be introduced in December, according to Altman's statement.
