Singer Charlotte Perrelli, who won the Eurovision Song Contest for Sweden in 1999, has not entirely let go of the idea of schlager competitions.

If I get the right song, my dream is to compete in Eurovision for Spain, she says in an interview with Expressen.

And the dream seems to be able to come true as the singer reveals that she currently has several people writing songs for her.

Then the Spanish Melodifestivalen is definitely interesting, she says.

Charlotte Perrelli has been living in Marbella on the Spanish south coast for two years. The last time she competed in Melodifestivalen was 2021, when she finished eighth with the song "Still young".

A bonus in this context is that Spain is part of "the big five", which means that their contribution automatically goes to the final in Eurovision.

The dream would have been if Sweden had won Eurovision the year before and that I then get to come home to Sweden but compete for Spain. I would have died, what a dream!, she says.
