I'm living proof that you don't have to compromise, said Charli XCX, or Charlotte Aitchison as she's actually called, when she received one of her many awards.
Charli XCX started by taking home the song of the year, which she received for "Guess". Then followed the prize for best dance number and the heavy prize for artist of the year. On Wednesday, she was also named best songwriter.
Charli XCX laid the foundation for a cultural phenomenon when she proclaimed the summer of 2024 as "brat summer", a trend, or lifestyle, that was later picked up by people all over the world, including American presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Charli XCX has herself described "brat" as "someone who is a bit messy, likes to party, maybe says stupid things and maybe breaks down, but parties through it".
American Chappell Roan also had a good evening with two wins for best international artist and best international song for "Good luck, babe!".
The prize for group of the year went somewhat unexpectedly to the jazz quintet Ezra Collective.
Sabrina Carpenter was awarded the global success award and Miles Smith received the prize as rising star.
The gala at the O2 Arena in London was led by comedian and actor Jack Whitehall.
