Charley Hull had already earlier during the round shown signs of not feeling quite well. On hole 4 – Hull's 13th hole for the day – Hull, according to eyewitnesses, collapsed. After having received a 15-minute long medical break, Hull made a new attempt to play the hole, but then she is said to have collapsed again.
When TT's correspondent arrived at the hole, Charley Hull received care again. After a while, Hull, who was conscious and used her mobile phone, could be driven away lying in a golf cart. She had played her twelve initial holes one stroke under par when the dramatic incident occurred. Afterwards, the organizers announced that Hull had had problems with a viral disease before the competition.
Hull's collapse caused a longer pause at the 13th tee. Maja Stark, who was two balls behind Hull, had to wait a long time before her three-ball could tee off on the hole.
