The announcement comes after a decision that the woman must first undergo a psychiatric evaluation, Billboard reports. The case has been referred to a Hollywood court to determine whether she is competent to stand trial.

If the woman is deemed unfit to stand trial, she can be held in a hospital until she can be brought to trial.

The woman is accused of firing 20 shots with a rifle at Rihanna's home in Los Angeles in early March this year.

Rihanna was reportedly in a trailer next to the house with her partner, A$AP Rocky. The couple's three children were in the house. None of them were injured in the incident.

Rihanna has not commented on the incident.
