The reason is that the Police Authority has made a new assessment of which searches may be carried out during security checks.
In December, charges were brought against the man for instructing his staff to conduct searches in, for example, the criminal record and the suspect register within the framework of security checks.
All registry searches were stopped in 2025 because they could be illegal. Instead, they were to be carried out by the Security Service.
But with the Police Authority's new assessment, certain personnel are now permitted to carry out these searches, and the prosecutor has therefore decided to drop the charges.
