Five men and a woman are being charged on Wednesday for their involvement in a shooting in Katrineholm this summer. A conflict on Snapchat is said to have been the cause of an argument that ended in an attempted murder.

Late in the evening of August 5, a man in a car in Katrineholm was shot several times. He managed to escape unharmed and, according to the prosecutor, was not the intended victim.

A total of six people are now being charged with various crimes related to the shooting. A 19-year-old and a 22-year-old man are being charged with attempted murder, a 17-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman are being charged with aiding and abetting attempted murder, and the same woman and another 31-year-old man are being charged with aggravated protection of a criminal, the Prosecution Service writes in a press release.

The indictment also includes assault and drug offenses.

"The investigation shows that the motive for the shooting is a conflict on Snapchat that then escalated into an assault on August 5, 2025. However, the plaintiff who was shot later in the evening does not appear to have been the intended target," says District Attorney Madeleine Bergdal according to the press release.

The main hearing begins on November 24 and is expected to last eight days.
