The start of the semester in Bollnäs primary schools has been postponed until next week because of the snowstorm. Gothenburg municipal upper secondary schools will not hold any in-person classes on Thursday, TV4 Nyheterna reports.

Due to heavy snowfall, Bollnäs Municipality is postponing the start of school in its municipal primary schools until Monday, January 12.

"The decision has been made with the safety of the students in mind, as unobstructed escape routes cannot be guaranteed," the municipality writes on its website.

Teaching is also being affected in Gothenburg's municipal upper secondary schools.

"The general direction is that we do not have any on-site teaching due to the weather conditions," says Bo Drysén, head of education at the City of Gothenburg, to TV4.

In Uddevalla municipality, all school buses will be canceled on Thursday, reports P4 Väst.

Earlier in the day, it was announced that all exams at Chalmers University of Technology scheduled for Wednesday had been canceled, according to GP. A total of 1,200 students are affected by this decision. The exams will be held on Friday instead, as the weather is expected to calm down.
