She experienced shame, embarrassment, questioning – but also "a bubbling lovely feeling". The message that the ceramic artist Mia E Göransson had received The Arts Grant Committee's large scholarship made her at least upset.

”Now in retrospect, I can marvel at all the mixed emotions that emerged in my head, not just positive ones”, she says in a press release where she describes herself as her own ”worst critic”.

”Receiving such a fine stipend where you have been selected by other artists affects you fundamentally”, states Mia E Göransson and adds that after the message she felt ”enormous gratitude”.

The stipend, of 300,000 kronor, she receives for an artistic work which according to the jury ”moves with obvious precision between the vulnerable and the structured”.

Göransson was born in 1961 and is active in Gustavsberg. Her works can be seen at, among other places, the National Museum, Röhsska Museum and Gustavsberg Porcelain Museum.
