Sweden started the World Cup qualifiers against Denmark brilliantly and got an early reward when Monica Jusu Bah scored 1-0.

But just under half an hour later, it was level at 1-1 after Napoli striker Cecilie Fløe beat Elma Junttila Nelhage and passed to Pernille Harder.

Then, in extra time, Janni Thomsen sprinted past Bella Andersson from midfield and decided the match.

"I don't really remember now. I just remember that they created two chances and scored two goals," says Bella Andersson, disappointed.

"Do it together"

Elma Junttila Nelhage remembers the first goal all the more clearly.

"I made a far too weak effort on the first goal. I don't think that's good enough," says the Lyon defender in a subdued voice.

And the other one came a little too easily, I think.

However, the two center backs receive support from, among others, Felicia Schröder - who had the chance to score after just 40 seconds but hit the post and still has not scored her first goal for the national team.

"They are benefiting from our mistakes as a team today. It's frustrating when we have so many chances and can't put the ball in," says the Häcken striker.

"It's a team sport. We do it together. We lose and win as a team."

"Small moment"

National captain Tony Gustavsson is also behind the center-back trio, which was supplemented by debutant Sofia Reidy.

"I think Elma, Bella and Sofia solve it brilliantly nine times out of ten. A small moment at the end of the match is enough," he says.

"Then the chances, we all know that, there's no point in even analyzing them. Next time we'll score five goals."

The World Cup qualifiers for Sweden now continue with a match against Serbia in Solna on Saturday. Ahead of that match, it is important to also focus on the good performances from the match against Denmark, emphasizes Tony Gustavsson.

"I took it straight to the dressing room afterwards and said that now it is incredibly important that we are not blinded by the result here but look beyond the goals. Then we will be damned, because we are winners," he says.

"But I think the performance is so good that we should have won this match."
