If a company's equity is less than its share capital, the board must prepare a control balance sheet. This never happened at the battery company Nortical, where Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist was chairman, Ekot and P4 report.

It is a violation of the Companies Act; it is serious, says Håkan Dahlgren of the Swedish Economic Crime Authority to SR.

The company went bankrupt in 2023 with debts of SEK 5 million to, among others, the state-owned Almi, Vinnova, the Swedish Tax Agency and the County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland.

Thand Ringqvist writes in an email to SR that the decision not to prepare a control balance sheet was made in consultation with lawyers and an auditor.
