The Centre Party's proposal means there should be a "police presence" in all municipalities in the country. However, this does not mean that there must be a permanent police station in every municipality.
No municipality should be abandoned by the police, says party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist (C) at a press conference in front of the police station in the Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby.
Rinkeby or Rättvik
According to the Centre Party, 110 municipalities currently lack a permanent police presence. It doesn't matter if you live in Rinkeby or Rättvik, there should be an opportunity to reach the police where you live, according to Thand Ringqvist.
"It's important so that people can report crimes. But also so that people feel that the police are coming to do the investigations needed to investigate mass crime, which is not being done today," she says.
The party also wants a national offensive against mass crime, such as theft and vandalism.
"That's a large majority of all reported crimes. It affects many small business owners and families, while too few crimes are solved," says Ulrika Liljeberg, the Centre Party's legal policy spokesperson.
Overall requirements
The party intends the investments to be made within the police's existing budget, which this year is close to 50 billion kronor.
The Centre Party has previously presented five additional government demands. Investing in young people's mental health and creating more jobs are two of them. According to the party leader, the demands are deliberately formulated in a comprehensive manner.
"For example, increasing the number of jobs is about lowering taxes for people and companies because we know that it is so important to make jobs work. We have not gone into exact tax rates, but rather general directions," she says.
