There was a deficit of 17.4 billion kronor in the central government's payments in October. However, this was slightly less than the forecast of 18.0 billion, according to the Swedish National Debt Office. However, the primary balance – the net of the central government's primary expenditure and income – was 2.5 billion kronor weaker than forecast, the authority notes.

"The difference is mainly due to higher than expected expenses for several authorities, while tax revenues were approximately SEK 4 billion higher than expected," writes the Swedish National Debt Office.

During the twelve-month period ending in October, the deficit in central government payments amounted to SEK 87.9 billion.

The central government debt amounted to SEK 1,141 billion at the end of October.
