If the forecasts hold, the interest rate can be lowered several times, according to Vice Governor of the Central Bank Anna Seim.

"The Central Bank's interest rate cuts support the economy while paving the way for price stability. If the economic and inflation outlooks hold, the interest rate can be lowered again in December and during the first half of 2025", she says in connection with a roundtable discussion in Gävle, according to a press release.

The next interest rate decision will be made on December 19, and in market pricing, the probability is 100 percent that there will be a 0.25 percentage point cut to 2.50 percent in the interest rate.

The market then expects at least three more interest rate cuts of 0.25 percentage points by the summer of 2025.
