If it were to become more expensive to refuel, C is ready to compensate by lowering the tax on the fossil part of the fuel.
"Reduced emissions and affordable prices at the pump do not have to be at odds with each other. By lowering the tax on renewable fuels, we make it easier for people to choose climate-smart options in their everyday lives," says Rickard Nordin, C's climate policy spokesperson, in a written comment.
C also wants to introduce a "substantial electric car bonus to accelerate the electrification of the vehicle fleet".
The financing is intended to be done through reprioritisation in the state budget and with EU funds.
