The former C-top Gustav Hemming is prosecuted for sexual harassment of children.

The incident occurred in public transportation in the Stockholm area in August last year, according to the Prosecution Authority.

"The investigation shows that the man touched himself both inside and outside his clothes in a way that I believe constitutes sexual harassment against children. The plaintiff was 13 years old at the time," says prosecutor Rebecca Rehnström, lead investigator, in a press release.

The incident was caught on surveillance cameras and the film is a major part of the evidence, in addition to interrogations and information provided to the police.

"I have assessed that the evidence is sufficient to bring charges," says Rehnström.

Hemming was previously the leader of the Center Party in Region Stockholm and deputy chairman of the regional board. He resigned from his assignments in early December after the party had been informed of the police.

He denies the crime.
