Center Party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist does not think that the government has been clear with voters about the state of the economy.

It almost feels like the government has tried to cover up how bad growth has been, because it means that people don't shop as much and companies don't hire as much.

"But I think people see through that. I think they notice that it feels unsafe and that they are saving," she says.

She also thinks that the government has downplayed the seriousness of unemployment.

It may be a more alarmist scenario that we have before us than what they have said.

At the beginning of May, the government will present an updated forecast of their outlook for the economy. By then, she hopes that the government "has realized the seriousness."

Misconceptions about nuclear power

The Center's proposal to reduce unemployment is to reduce employer contributions, which the party believes would encourage companies to hire more.

The party has also proposed a kind of "simplified jobs" scheme where long-term unemployed people would get simpler jobs with a tax-free salary of 20,000 kronor a month.

Another area where Thand Ringqvist says the government has misled the public is nuclear power, where she believes the costs have skyrocketed compared to what was said in the last election campaign.

At that time, there was talk of possibly using government credit guarantees.

Now it will be credit guarantees, price hedging and a guarantee for the nuclear repository of 180 billion SEK.

“Huge price tag”

The Center Party can imagine new nuclear power, but without government interference. Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist, however, prefers to talk about wind power, solar cells, batteries and future green technology that may make nuclear power unnecessary, according to her.

She thinks that "many on the right" have talked down green technology.

"It's opinion leaders and Sweden Democrats who don't believe we need to do anything about the climate," she says.

In the last parliamentary election, the Center Party received 6.7 percent, a disappointment; in its post-election analysis, the party said it had run an election campaign "in a headwind, without friends."

Now the party can imagine governing with everyone except V and SD. Thand Ringqvist's dream is a center-right government, with either Ulf Kristersson or Magdalena Andersson as prime minister.

Don't you think voters want to know who you would most like to see as prime minister?

"All right-wing voters and all left-wing voters want that. But those in the middle are not nearly as concerned," she says.

Facts: Thand Ringqvist about the government

This is the worst the government has done during its term of office, according to Center Party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist:

That they have not listened enough to important consultation bodies regarding the policies they want to implement.

The Legislative Council has said it will be a waste of money. Most recently, proposals to put 13-year-olds in prison drew very strong criticism, but it is symbolically important for the government. It is really bad legislation.

And they have done it best:

They found a way to allow yard sales. It wasn't perfect legislation, but it was still an opening.
