Morning trading in Asia has been quiet. The Shenzhen Stock Exchange in China fell shortly after opening but climbed back to unchanged levels by lunchtime. Shanghai is up 0.3 percent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng is up just over 0.2 percent.
The Nikkei 225 in Tokyo is down 0.3 percent, while the broader Topix is up 0.2 percent.
The Kospi in South Korea is having a good trading day, rising 1.7 percent.
Meanwhile, the spot price of silver continues to rise, with a new record of just over $80 per ounce, CNBC reports.
