It is in an interview with Radio Times that Blanchett announces that she will quit acting to "do other things with her life".
My family raises their eyebrows when I say it, but I really mean it. I'm completely serious when I say I'll quit, there are a lot of other things I want to do in life, she says.
During her career, Blanchett has, among other things, won Oscars for her roles in "Blue Jasmine" and "The Aviator". She has also won in the category of best female actor at the Venice Film Festival for her roles in "I'm Not There" and "Tár".
Recently, she was seen in Steven Soderbergh's thriller "Black Bag", and forthcoming, she is current in Jim Jarmusch's "Father, Mother, Sister, Brother", which premieres later this year. She is also playing in the upcoming sci-fi comedy "Alpha Gang" as well as in Ben Stiller's film "The Champions".
Despite her long career, she feels uncomfortable being a famous actress, she says in the interview:
I've spent a lifetime trying to get comfortable with the feeling of being uncomfortable. No one is more boring than me, and I think everyone else is much more interesting. I think I'm incurably boring, she says.
