The film has not yet received an official title, but will be directed by Lorene Scafaria and is described as a musical film.
Sabrina Carpenter will also be producing the film, along with Matt Platt, who previously worked on “La La Land” and “Wicked,” reports Rolling Stone .
The announcement comes about a week after Carpenter received six Grammy nominations for the album "Man's Best Friend."
