Caroline Andersson was involved in a mass crash during the road race at the World Championships in Montreal last weekend. The 25-year-old was knocked unconscious and taken to hospital with serious injuries. Now she is breaking her silence after the accident.

"After the crash, I have suffered four brain hemorrhages, two facial fractures, a broken collarbone and a broken pelvic bone. I am currently stable and in good hands," she writes on Instagram.

Now she faces a long period of rehabilitation before she can be back on the racetrack again.

"Now it's just about taking my time to get well, especially for my head. Thanks to the entire Swedish team and to everyone who has reached out, it means so much. I'll be back when I'm ready," she writes.
