The fifth final match began with a goal from each team before Carolina took the lead in the second period and seized control of the match.
Vegas scored a consolation goal, but the game ended 4–2 in Carolina's favor.
The loss was not Vegas's only setback, however. In the second period, the team's Swedish star William Karlsson left the ice after his left arm hit the glass. The 33-year-old did not return for the rest of the game.
The Stanley Cup is decided in a best-of-seven series.
