Carolina was completely superior in the shooting statistics in last night's semifinal match against Montreal. Yet it was not until the fifteenth minute of overtime that Andrei Svechnikov was able to decide the game for the visitors.
Three times as many shots in the first period, almost twice as many in the second and seven times as many in the third, yet Carolina failed to pull away in regulation.
Jakub Dobeš in Montreal's net managed to block 35 shots before Andrei Svechnikov scored the winning goal with a well-placed shot.
In total, Carolina won the shot count 38–12. The teams meet again on Thursday night.
