The 20-year-old Swede and his teammates never found a way past the away team's goalkeeper Karel Vejmelka, who saved 27 shots.
Carlsson had scored in seven straight ice hockey games before the big loss to Utah on Thursday night, but was left scoreless. He was instead on the ice when the away team scored three of its seven goals.
Carlsson is tied for fourth place in the NHL's scoring league with 36 points in 27 games – ten points behind the leader, Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon.
