According to the police, the car first collided with a parked vehicle in the town of Bohmte, whereupon it drove through a hedge and into a garden where the boy was hit.

After that, the car is said to have driven over uneven ground and been thrown up in the air and finally crashed into the roof of a nearby barn - about three meters above the ground.

The boy was seriously injured. The driver, a man in his 40s, and his wife were also seriously injured. Their two children were also in the car, but they escaped with minor injuries.

The police are investigating the accident.
