A person died and three people are being treated for serious injuries after a car drove into a pizzeria's outdoor seating area in Normandy in northwestern France on late Saturday afternoon.
The police state that the accident in the coastal town of Pirou was due to the driver losing consciousness for as yet unclear reasons.
The theory that this was a deliberate act has been formally ruled out, says prosecutor Gauthier Poupeau.
