Maja Stark began the golf year with a missed qualifying limit in Florida two weeks ago. Now that the LPGA tour has moved to Thailand, the 25-year-old Swede has got her game in better order.
Stark lies second at Siam Country Club in Pattaya after a largely brilliant first round. An eagle, six birdies, and a bogey resulted in 65 strokes, seven under par, and a second place after the first day's play. Only Japanese Akie Iwai, –10, was better.
Two years ago, Stark, who has a win on the LPGA tour, finished fourth in the same competition.
Madelene Sagström (–1) and Linn Grant (–1) have also started decently in Thailand, while both Linnea Ström (+5) and Anna Nordqvist (+6) have had a tough start.
