With only hours left until the Golden Palm is awarded, a major power outage is occurring in Cannes.

The film festival is in its final day, and around 10 am, cinema visitors had to leave the auditoriums because the projectors did not function.

In the main building Palais des Festivals, film screenings have been able to resume thanks to a generator. Regional authorities are urging the public to exercise caution. It is not known what caused the power outage, or if it will affect the evening's award ceremony, which is scheduled to take place at 18.40.
