Several candlelight vigils were held on Sunday afternoon to honor the two women who were murdered in Boden and Rönninge over the Christmas holidays.

Several hundred people gathered at Sergels Torg in Stockholm to light candles and observe a minute of silence for the two women who were both brutally murdered by men unknown to them.

One of those who showed up was Anders Blomberg, himself a father of two daughters in their twenties.

I can really relate to what happened in Rönninge; it could have been one of my daughters. But it has been like this for so long now, and every single time the politicians say "now we are going to do something about this" and then nothing happens. Now I feel like I have had enough, he told Ekot on Sveriges Radio.

Among the speakers at the demonstration in Stockholm were "Idol" jury member Katia Mossaly; several ministers were also present.

Similar demonstrations were also held in Gothenburg, Malmö, Boden, Visby, Varberg, Värnamo and Örnsköldsvik.
