The ship Juno was built in 1874 and operates on the Göta Canal, among other routes. The current trip had started from Stockholm via Trosa and was to continue south when it ran aground at 5 pm on Tuesday.
Divers will examine the hull to see if the boat can continue on its own or if evacuation is needed, says Anders Larsson.
It is unclear when the inspection of the hull may be completed.
No one has been injured.
