On Friday, the opening ribbon will be cut for the Gordie Howe Bridge, named after one of Canada's greatest hockey players. It will open to traffic later in June.
The bridge is a collaboration between Canada and the US state of Michigan, forming an important and economically significant transportation link between Windsor and Detroit.
Canada has covered the cost of the bridge's construction.
But in February, President Trump publicly demanded that Canada hand over at least half the ownership of the bridge to the US federal government, expressing displeasure with Canada's trade policies.
