Canada suffered its second loss in the final group match of the Junior World Championship in ice hockey, this time against the USA.

The Americans won 4–1, with three goals scored in numerical superiority when the Canadians were in the penalty box. The fourth came at the end, when Canada had pulled the goalkeeper towards the end of the third period.

The USA will face Switzerland in the quarterfinals. Canada, which was sensationally defeated by Latvia in the group stage, will meet the Czech Republic, which came second in the group that Sweden won.
