Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney says that trade talks with the USA have been resumed after Canada withdrew new taxes that, among other things, affected American tech companies.

The President of the USA, Donald Trump, announced on Friday that the negotiations with Canada would be immediately interrupted due to the taxes, which he called "a direct and obvious attack on our country".

The Canadian government is now announcing that the tax, which would have come into force on Monday, is being stopped "pending" a trade agreement between the countries.
