27-year-old Higgo got off to what must be considered the worst possible start at Aronimink Golf Club. His three-ball was scheduled to tee off at 7:18 a.m. local time, but by the time Higgo stepped onto the tee it was a little later, and his playing partners had already started teeing off.
Higgo was assessed a two-stroke penalty, added to his score on the first hole. The PGA of America said the player was on the practice green at 7:18 a.m. and not within the area on and around the tee defined as the "starting area."
