It is about how Anders Larsson and the Swedish Ice Hockey Association have handled the issue of Russia being allowed to compete in the World Cup by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), despite the ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine.
CAS made the announcement on Friday. On Tuesday, the Swedish Ice Hockey Association announced that it would refuse to play Russia in next year's World Cup - but only after Finland, Norway and Denmark had announced the same.
Long-time TV expert Niklas Wikegård tells Aftonbladet that “trust is exhausted” and that Larsson should resign. The Swedish Hockey Supporters Union has also issued a statement making the same demand.
We want to see them take the lead in discussions with other countries instead of waiting and then bringing up the rear, chairman Axel Pettersson tells Radiosporten.
However, Anders Larsson believes the association's position has been clear.
It is clear and obvious what Swedish ice hockey stands for. And we have maintained this position throughout, since the war began, he tells Sveriges Radio.
Larsson, who also sits on the board of the International Ice Hockey Federation, also says:
My attitude is that I am working on this and doing my best to help handle it as well as I can.
