The prosecutor is seeking a two-year prison sentence for a man suspected of having hit and kicked Israeli football fans in Amsterdam when violence erupted after a match on November 7.
The 22-year-old is one of five suspects in court on Wednesday, due to the violence after the match between Dutch Ajax and Israeli Maccabi Tel Aviv. Five Israeli football supporters were injured.
According to the prosecution, the man played a "leading role" in the violence, "which had little to do with football". The prosecutors are seeking six months' imprisonment for another of the suspects.
The police are investigating at least 45 people in connection with the violence.
More suspects will appear in court at a later time.
