Halfvarsson leaves the national team – after 14 years. Now he is standing outside, and hopes to perform well enough in the beginning of next season to be selected for the World Cup and then the Olympic Games in Italy.

I have been thinking about different scenarios for next season where the Olympic Games are the big goal. What is good, what is bad, which path do I want to take? This decision has not been made overnight.

But in the end, I simply came to the conclusion that this, going solo, is the best way for me right now, he says to Expressen.

Who will become the coach is "not entirely decided yet", according to Halfvarsson.

The plan is to continue to invest at the highest level for at least two more seasons, over the World Championship in Falun 2027. For the Olympic Games in February 2026, Halfvarsson has already decided on his approach. It will be a sprint effort.

I have actually never done it before, more just trained for distance and skied on approximately the same tracks every year. So this feels like a fun challenge.

On April 29, the national team management will present which skiers will be included in next season's national teams.
