No work, no school and no shopping. These are the watchwords for a “national lockdown” and hundreds of protests planned for Friday and Saturday, The Guardian reports.

The grassroots movement 50501 and student groups such as the Somali Student Association, the Black Student Union, and the Graduate Labor Union at the University of Minnesota are calling for the dismantling of immigration enforcement after at least eight people died in ICE and border agency interventions this year, most notably the shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.

Organizers are also calling on hotels to stop offering accommodations to agents, by phoning hotels, leaving negative reviews and disrupting bookings. Local businesses are being urged to refuse service to ICE personnel. The protests are supported by celebrities including Ariana Grande and Pedro Pascal.
