Caitlin Clark created a basketball fever when she last season made her debut in the women's professional league WNBA after a record-filled college career.
She did not miss a match during her debut season when Indiana Fever reached their first playoffs since 2016. This season, Clark has had problems with injuries and after injuring her groin in mid-July, she now announces on Instagram that the season is over.
"I spent hours at the gym every day with the only goal of coming back, and disappointment is not a strong enough word to describe how I feel. I want to thank everyone who has supported me", writes the 23-year-old.
One of those who commented on the post is basketball legend Lebron James.
"A minor setback that paves the way for a big comeback! Rest up, get healthy and be yourself", writes the 40-year-old.
Indiana is in a playoff spot and has three matches left to play in the WNBA regular season.
